Galli Criterium (type 2) | Fourthgrace | 09/04/2021 04:08 AM |
The confusion between the KL and the Criterium has arisen because KL front derailleur models were also offered as part of Criterium boxed sets. Another interpretation is that the braze-on version with 3 slots was the KL and the clamp-on version with no slots was a Criterium. Both had the exposed spring. For these reasons and in conclusion all models with an exposed Spring could correctly be attributed as "KL Criterium models" |

Campagnolo Victory | JAKE | 08/31/2021 12:55 AM |
I have the braze-on unit weighing 96g. |
Campagnolo Nuovo Valentino | JAKE | 08/31/2021 12:25 AM |
I again seem to have a unit that is very similar and yet obviously different. The main issue would be that my cage has no lip, thus making it from '77 or earlier. Definitely not chromed, except for the clamp band bolt. Same flat control arms. It has the winged logo on the cage which would be earlier than any of my other Campy FDs; others only have it from the early 80s until the shield logo came about. Any guesses as to what it might be. I will attempt to document it as a separate entry with photos. I cannot remember if I pulled it from a frame or got it as a loose part so no help in that area. It is definitely not a Nuovo Gran sport; I figured it was the earliest version of the Nuovo Valentino due to the similarities. The main body casting is also slightly different at the upper portion where the clamp pin inserts; but you need to look closely. |
Campagnolo 980 | JAKE | 08/30/2021 11:48 PM |
I have two of these units, one from a mid 80s Aelle tretubi Bottecchia, another from an '86 Batavus Criterium. Neither unit has the diamond "C" marking as mentioned and shown in the example. Both units are original and unmodified. One unit (from Bottechia) has no "Campagnolo" script engraved on the front clamp band. Both have a small number cast onto the rear of the upper arm and also onto the rear on the main body (unit with bare clamp band:arm and body are both "1"; unit w/script band: arm "5" and body "2"). I have no idea why they are different from each other, and also different from the example shown; it may indicate approx. years each unit was made given the obvious differences in appearance (aside from the numbers). Also, both units weigh approx. 98g. Possibly an error on the posted unit weight? |
Campagnolo Record 1052/1 (1973-1977) | JAKE | 08/30/2021 09:55 PM |
The example shown does not have a circlip, but there is not a proper angle to show if the pin is grooved to receive one; it may be missing. All of my units post 1972 have a pin designed to receive a circlip even though it functions fine without the clip; and the arm will be held in place regardless. |
Campagnolo Record 1052/1 | JAKE | 08/30/2021 09:40 PM |
I have this as OE on a '72 Raleigh Professional Mk IV; bike has a Patent 72 rear derailleur as well. |
Zeus Criterium (drilled pulley cage) | JAKE | 08/30/2021 09:09 PM |
I have two examples of this same unit (one is "new", all original, never used) neither with the alloy cage plates having been drilled. The weight is 212g +/-1g. I do not know if the drilled plates were considered a different model or not, or if they were the earlier version of the 'drillium' model. |
Campagnolo Nuovo Record 0104007 (1982 - 1987, 3-hole standard band) | JAKE | 08/30/2021 08:29 PM |
The "deragliatore centrale" terms on the box is merely Italian for central derailleur. The 'front' derailleur is indeed at the front of the drivetrain, but it is in the center of the bike. It has nothing to do with a specific gruppo. |
Campagnolo Record 1052/NT (1978 - 1982, 3-hole narrow band) | JAKE | 08/30/2021 08:19 PM |
If this was the "last generation" of Nuovo Record front derailleur; what generation was the '82-'87 3 hole Nuovo Record derailleur? |
